Network Policies:
Network Policies can vary greatly from company to company we looked at some examples that include such things as OH&S and even some that include discrimination in the workplace clauses (Such as viewing offensive material on a PC or network).
Organisations will make these policies available to staff in a variety of ways including:
· Providing the policy in staff material when an employee first joins a company
· Publishing the policy on the organisations intranet site or in a shared folder
· In hard copy format in staff manuals
These network policies should be reviewed and updated periodically due to the changing IT needs of the company.
Implementing Network Policies:
We looked at implementing procedures in three main areas which were:
· Antivirus policy
· Backup policy
· Maintaining system security policy
These follow regular procedures such as deploy, update, maintain this would be to do with the Antivirus policy. Helpful user documentation also helps this procedure go smoothly.
The backup Policy should look at when to back up (Depending on the company needs etc), also the media used, and amount of time to keep backups.
The system security policy would look at the installation of un approved applications or programs, possible miss use of company applications, and inappropriate sharing of Passwords or other confidential information.
